WASHINGTON (Reuters), a group of 20 countries and the District of Columbia backed the Biden administration on Thursday to reinstate California’s ability to establish state tailpipe and zero emissions vehicle standards.

A group of 17 state, including Texas and Ohio, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals in District of Columbia against the March decision of the Environmental Protection Agency to restore authority that had been withdrawn by President Donald Trump. California’s rules on vehicle emissions have been adopted by more than one dozen states.
