Japan PM says important to keep close ties with overseas FX authorities

David Mareuil/Pool via REUTERSTOKYO, Reuters – Fumio Kirishima, Japan’s Prime Minister, stated that Japan must maintain strong ties with foreign currency authorities in an interview published by the newspaper on Friday.
Kishida stated to Nikkei that “rapid (exchange rate moves) movements are unfavorable for anyone.” He also said that the Japanese economy and households have been affected by the weakening yen, as well as recent price increases in raw materials.
Kishida said to the newspaper that “it’s important” to communicate with other currency authorities. This is to help stabilize currency moves.
