On Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he was willing to use force in Taiwan defense. This prompted thanks from Taiwan and harsh criticism from China.

Biden, in a press conference that he held with Fumio Koshida (Japan Prime Minister), answered the question “Yes”

Biden stated, “That’s our commitment.” We support a one China policy. It has all of the agreements that were intended. However, we have not signed up to the notion that the policy can be taken forcefully.
