U.S. FDA sets June meeting dates for Moderna, Pfizer small children COVID-19 vaccines -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] -The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced June 14-15 as the new review date. Moderna (NASDAQ) Inc emergency authorization request to its COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6 months to five years. Pfizer Inc (NYSE) offers a vaccine to children aged between 6 and 4 years.

According to a Monday statement, the FDA announced that our new dates for pediatric COVID-19 advisory committee meetings are now June 14th and June 15th.

“We know parents are anxious for us to determine if these vaccines are safe & effective. In light of the disclosure by Pfizer re: their data & anticipated dates for submission, we believe that we will complete review of both EUA requests within days of one another,” it said.

FDA stated that Moderna’s request for an emergency authorization to allow youth six-to-17 years old to use Moderna’s services will be considered at the FDA meeting on June 14.

Dr. Ashish Jha, White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator, stated on Sunday that he expected a U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for Moderna’s vaccine to be approved by Moderna in the coming weeks.

Jha, a Jha spokesperson on ABC said that Moderna had submitted their application. FDA experts have been looking at the data.
