WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Stellantis NV (KS:), SDI announced Tuesday that they would invest over $2.5 billion in a joint venture to construct a Kokomo battery plant. This is as part of the Chrysler parent’s plans for increasing electric vehicle production.

The plant is expected to begin production in 2025. It has an initial capacity of 23 gigawatts (GWh) and will grow to 33 GWh over the years.

This joint venture could create up to 1,400 jobs, and eventually reach $3.1 billion.
