Governor Greg Abbott said that a gunman opened fire Tuesday morning on a Texas elementary school killing 14 students and one teacher. Greg Abbott said.
He said that the suspected shooter was likely to have been carrying a rifle and a handgun.
Abbott stated in a briefing that it is possible for him to have abandoned his car and entered the Robb Elementary School, Uvalde, with a handgun. He may also have had a gun.
The governor stated that he had shot 14 students to death and one teacher.

Within an hour of Uvalde Consolidated International School District’s announcement on Twitter about “an active shooter at the elementary school,” news broke that the suspect had been captured.
“Law enforcement are on-site. You can help us by not going to the campus. “As soon as we have more information, it will be shared,” said the tweet.

Police and school officials said that students were being transported to Uvalde high School in order to reunite with their parents. The district requested that parents do not pick up their children. The district updated the status by saying that students will not be picked up until they are all accounted for.
