(Reuters] – Spanish retail sales rose 1.5% to April from a previous year on a seasonal and calendar-adjusted base, following a fall of 4.1% in March.

This growth was compared to the 1.9% expected contraction by economists polled at Reuters.

The March number was adjusted from a 4.2% contraction that was released in the previous month, INE stated.
