A recent report from Yicai states that Nio Inc (NYSE 🙂 has opened positions for electric vehicles. These positions indicate that the company might be interested in building a new plant.

The company’s current U.S. footprint includes a self-driving R&D center in San Jose, California. The company responded to queries by stating that they had not disclosed any information regarding the construction of a U.S. factory.

NIO is hiring for positions including overseas manufacturing campus planning specialists, body process specialists for overseas projects, overseas planning and infrastructure specialists, and overseas logistics project managers.

“NIO is believed to be intent on building a U.S.-based plant. “The position requires knowledge and participation in U.S. plant selection,” Yicai quoted a Chinese auto company worker as saying.

In a December 19 interview, William Li, the founder, chairman, and CEO, stated that “We are definitely a Chinese company but we also have global resources.”

NIO produces its vehicles at JAC–NIO Advanced Manufacturing Base (Hefei), Anhui province. A second NIO plant is currently under construction in NeoPark, central Chinese city.
