Rivian executive in charge of manufacturing quits in management rejig -Breaking

(Reuters) – Rivian Automotive has announced that Charly Mowangi, the man who started the production process of electric-vehicle makers, will soon be departing the company.

Mwangi is a former Inc executive and served as Rivian’s Executive Vice President starting in May 2020. In late 2021, he brought both the R1T pickup truck & R1S SUV into production.

He leaves amid former colleagues. Magna International (NYSE:) Frank Klein is the executive who will assume chief operations chief duties in June. He will oversee supply chain, production and engineering.

Amazon-backed Rivian that cut 2022 production earlier this year added that it felt confident in its ability to improve its relations with commercial partners.

RJ Scaringe, Rivian’s chief executive officer, stated that it could double its production in the absence of supply restrictions. He also pointed out issues with allocations of semiconductors.
