ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Reuters] – U.S. President Joe Biden claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to seize control of Europe with an invasion of Ukraine on Friday had failed and informed Naval Academy graduates that their task is to ensure maritime freedom in South China Sea.
Biden explained to 1,200 graduating Cadets from Annapolis, Maryland that they have entered military service during a period of great global challenges. Their mission is to “preserve security in an uncertain future.”
“We’re going looking to you to secure the American population,” he stated.
Biden was part of the coalition formed to resist Russia’s invasion Ukraine.
“Not only is he trying to take over Ukraine, he’s literally trying to wipe out the culture and identity of the Ukrainian people. Biden claimed that attacking schools, nurseries hospitals and museums is his only purpose.
Putin attempted to “Finlandize” Europe, but instead he NATO-ized it all,” stated Biden. This was a reference the NATO plans of neutral countries Finland and Sweden.
Biden just returned from Asia after a week and said that the Indo-Pacific maritime Theater will lead the U.S. response in the face of natural or humanitarian catastrophes.
He said, “You will defend international road rules, guarantee the Indo-Pacific future that is open, protect freedom of navigation in the South China Sea, and elsewhere, and ensure the safety and security of sea lanes.”
These long-standing maritime principles form the foundation of global economic stability and global prosperity. Biden said that you will help to bring together allies from Europe as well as our Indo-Pacific allies.
Biden was a Democrat, and a former Senator. He noted that he and Republican Senator John McCain (the Naval Academy graduate who died in 2018 from cancer), fought “hammer-and-tong” over policy, but remained close friends.
Biden stated that McCain asked him to do his eulogy during a 2018 deathbed visit.
