Devon Henry looks to NFTs in order to raise $13M towards social causes throughout the US

Devon Henry is an entrepreneur who was known for removing the Confederate monuments from Richmond. However, several contractors were scared to touch them. Now, he’s continuing his act of heroism with digital collectibles. Henry is repurposing the legacy of his team into a charitable CryptoFederacy project that shines a light on the 13-star causes and changemakers through the “13 Stars NFT Art Collection.”

In 2020, Henry and his team put their careers on the line “to help the city and state turn the page from its rebel past.” They were initially tasked with the responsibility of removing the statue of Robert E. Lee. Emotions were intense after George Floyd’s murder. At this time, the COVID19 flu pandemic reached its peak. Henry and his team of construction workers eventually took down 23 Confederate statues from the former Confederate South.

His new project is giving meaning to the Confederate flag’s 13 stars by assigning a charity to each of the “13 Stars” in the NFT collection. This project will drop on Juneteenth, the Federal U.S. Holiday which commemorates and celebrates the freedom and emancipation of slave Americans after the April 1865 surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and Confederate States.

The 13 inaugural NFTs, which will represent the removal of the statues, will be issued on June 19, 2020. Henry plans to sell each collectible for $1 million, and then use the proceeds to support 13 charities that deal with social issues related to Confederate generals’ ideals and actions.

Henry and his crew are currently forming partnerships with well-respected nonprofits and planning launches in New York City, Richmond, D.C. and Los Angeles. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with Henry and the CryptoFederacy staff, see the NFT artwork, meet the artist, look at professional photographs taken during the removal of statues, as well explore the physical parts of dismantled confederate monuments.

Henry hopes that passionate individuals and foundations will become part of Henry’s initial effort to rewrite history. The CrazyStats NFT collection will be launched in 10,000 pieces as the community grows.
