(Reuters) – Russia’s central bank may allow cryptocurrency to be used for international payments. This was said by a top bank official on Tuesday. It is a sign that Russia’s opposition to the digital currency has been loosened.

Ksenia Yudayeva, First Deputy Governor, reiterated the fact that the bank continues to view “relatively large risks” due to the wider adoption of cryptocurrency in Russia.

Yudayeva stated that Russia’s financial stability was at risk because banks have ample liquidity in foreign currencies.
