A South Korean defense ministry official stated that eight US surface-to-surface rockets were fired by South Korea on Monday morning off the coast of South Korea’s East Coast. This was after North Korea had launched a series of ballistic missiles with short range capabilities on Sunday.

This is an act of precision strike, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol took office last month and has pledged to be tougher against North Korea. He also agreed to a summit with Joe Biden in May to improve joint military drills as well as their deterrence position.

Yonhap reported that eight missiles were fired from the United States and South Korea’s surface-to-surface rangers within a time span of approximately 10 minutes. They fired them in response to eight North missiles.

According to a South Korean Defense Ministry official, eight Army Tactical Missile Systems were fired.

North Korea fired its short-range ballistic missiles at sea near its east coast, possibly its biggest single test. They were firing just a day after South Korea ended its joint military drills.

North Korea has been fighting Covid-19 for several weeks and is blaming Washington’s ongoing “hostile” policies toward Pyongyang despite the fact that it talks of diplomacy.

North Korea launched a flurry this year of missiles. These ranged from hypersonic weapons, to testing firing large intercontinental ballistic (ICBM) missiles for the first-time in almost five years.

Washington and Seoul officials recently stated that North Korea is ready to resume its nuclear weapons testing for the first-time since 2017.

Following Biden’s Asia visit, where he pledged to implement new deterrent measures, North Korea fired 3 missiles, including the largest intercontinental ballistic missile.

In response to the tests, the combined South Korean and American forces fired missiles. Both allies claim that the actions were violations of U.N. Security Council Resolutions.
