Zhang Tianzhe was arrested after he attempted to rob $3 million of cryptocurrency assets. A man entered a California home and bound the victim with duct tape. He threatened to steal millions from his account.

Zhang was 31 years old and had on ski goggles, gloves, a jacket, and a hood for the burglary. The woman was threatened with a knife and was given instructions through an iPad that was hanging on Zhang’s neck.

It was believed that the burglary took place after Zhang fled Taiwan in March. American investigators had been trying to find him since the burglary. The two eventually managed to fly to Taiwan in order to capture him.

Zhang was taken into custody in Taiwan with $8,000 cash and his tablet. He also had a notebook, cryptocurrency wallets and other evidence. Zhang was taken to San Francisco and will face criminal charges of first-degree residential burglary, kidnapping for ransom, and threats.

The rise in crypto adoption has led to burglars trying to grab cryptocurrencies. These thieves believe that it is difficult to trace the police. Crypto scams are increasing in popularity as more people adopt crypto.
