On Monday, IRA Financial Trust, a platform providing self-directed digital assetRetirement and pension accounts FiledGemini cryptocurrency exchange has been sued over allegedly negligent safeguarding digital assets of its customers during a critical exploit. Gemini held the client accounts of the company. Unauthorized withdrawals of crypto assets worth $36 million were made from the accounts of customers on February 8.

Both companies blame each other since then for their respective losses. An allegedly false 911 call was made at the same time as the hack, which distracted many employees of IRA Financial Trust from their desks. Gemini has multiple security measures such as whitelisting withdraw addresses, two-factor authentication and fraud detection algorithms to avoid any single point of failure.
