Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

Perenti Global Ltd., which gained 3.50% (or 0.03 points) to trade at 0.74 by the end of the session was among the top performers. Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd. (ASX) gained 2.83%, or 0.07 point to close at 2.54. Magellan Financial Group Ltd. (ASX) was up 2.15%, or 0.27 to 12.82 late trade.

They were also the session’s worst performers Appen Ltd (ASX:) which dropped 7.09% (0.42 points) to close at 5.50. Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (ASX) fell 6.81%, or 1.05 points, to close at 14.37. Lynas Rare Earths Ltd. (ASX) dropped 6.19% (or 0.60 points) to 9:09.

The Sydney Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing stock by 1057, 386 and 374 respectively.

Appen Ltd shares (ASX) plunged to their 3-year lows. They fell 7.09%, or 0.42 to 5.50. Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd. shares (ASX:), fell to 52-week lowest levels; dropping 6.81%, or 1.05 to 15.37.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 9.26% to 17.04.

The August Gold Futures fell 0.26%, or 4.75, to $1851.75 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.75 or 0.61% to $121.36/barrel, and August Brent oil, which fell 0.61 or 0.49% to $122.97/barrel.

AUD/USD remained unchanged at 0.72, with AUD/JPY falling 0.91% at 95.68.

At 102.56, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.02%.
