Two sources close to the situation claim that Hedge fund Macellum Advisors & Ancora Advisors lost their bids for seats on SpartanNash Co’s board.

These two hedge funds own 4.5% and tried to replace three members of the board. The company stated that it needed to be more competitive in order to consider selling its entire or part of itself.

Representatives of the hedge fund and company didn’t immediately reply to comments requests.
