US central banks digital currency commentators divided about benefits, but unified in confusion

The United States Federal Reserve Board of Governors met in January Discussion paper released on a potential U.S. central bank digital currency (CBDC) titled “Money and Payments: The U.S. Dollar in the Age of Digital Transformation.” The comment period for the paper ended May 20, with the Fed receiving over 2,000 pages of comments from individuals alongside responses from leading stakeholders.

Cointelegraph reviewed a number of responses from shareholders to the Fed paper. It quickly became clear that while there were many confident opinions, they had little in common. Commonalities are found in their perplexities.
