REUTERS/Gonzalo FuentesMILAN, Reuters – China’s Fosun Fashion Group stated Monday that they would change their name to Lanvin Group. The move was made in order to capitalize on one of the label’s reputations as part of its efforts at building a global luxury brand portfolio.
Fosun Fashion Group also controls the luxury Italian shoemaker Sergio Rossi, high-end tailor Caruso and Wolford, as well as American womenswear label St. John Knits and Austrian hosiery specialist Wolford.
Fosun Fashion Group indicated that they will continue to investigate opportunities for luxury fashion brands investments to speed up growth.
China’s fashion industry is the most important, with China having its own companies. However, even if they’ve purchased European-recognized labels, Chinese fashion companies have struggled to make inroads on Western markets.
Fosun Fashion Group is a Chinese company that was established in 2017 by Fosun International Limited. In addition to its Chinese trading conglomerate Fosun International Limited and the luxury footwear maker Stella International, it now has two additional strategic investors.
