(Reuters) – Moderna (NASDAQ:) Inc said Tuesday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration should allow booster doses in COVID-19 vaccine for fully vaccinated elderly adults and other high risk individuals.

According to the company, its data support the public health benefits of booster vaccines that restore immunity and reduce the incidence of breakthrough infections among fully-vaccinated adults.

Moderna’s remarks were made public in briefing documents before a meeting of FDA’s external expert advisors on Thursday to discuss the booster dosage.
