Cathie Wood, a closely followed investor in innovation said that the migration trend manifesting itself at her company’s own business is more evidence of deflation than inflation.

Wood — founder, CEO and CIO of ARK Invest —is moving her investment firm’s headquarters to St. Petersburg, Florida on Nov. 1. According to Wood, the disruptive innovator investor in disruption innovation, inflation should be kept at bay by companies and individuals moving to cheaper areas.

“The cost to live” [in St. Petersburg]It is 20%-40% lower than New York City, and this includes rents,” Wood stated during Tuesday’s ARK Invest webinar.

“The great exodus is the migration from very high-rent places to areas with much lower rents. “So there’s going be a mixed effect that many don’t take into consideration when they think of inflation,” she said.

Wood is vocal in her belief that deflation can be achieved. Many market participants worry about increasing prices. However, ARK Invest’s founder isn’t. expects deflation amid a breakdown in commodity prices, gridlock on tax policy in Washington and innovation trends taking off.

Hot-handed investor also wants to place St. Petersburg on the radar for innovation. It is located on Florida’s central west coast.

Wood stated that St. Pete is a place where innovation and tech companies are attracted. We are seeing the entire government come together in this way that is extremely refreshing. They’re very happy that ARK can help them in this process.

The company also announced last weekIn St. Petersburg, the groundbreaking for the ARK Innovation Center is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2022. This will include a facility to help retain and attract top talent by supporting entrepreneurs and tech startups in St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay region, according to ARK’s news release.

“I believe that this region is going burgeon,” she said.

Wood said that St. Petersburg was “incredible” in terms of quality of life.
