According to Jeff Zients, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zients, the U.S government will heavily rely on family physicians and pediatricians in its Covid-19 vaccination rollout for children ages 5-11 starting next month.

Zients reported that the White House asked governors for permission to enroll children’s health professionals and pediatricians in vaccine programs in order to allow them to begin giving shots immediately after U.S. regulators have approved their use.

Federal health officials asked the states to create outreach programs and educate their citizens, Zients explained. They also wanted to ensure that Covid sites were available in “highly social vulnerability” areas and rural areas.

Zients declared during a media briefing regarding the pandemic that “if it is approved by the FDA/CDC, then we will have the ability to respond.” The supply is available. It’s not the same supply as adults.

Children start their school year in the United States with the rising incidence of Covid. Parents are eager to ensure that their children get vaccinated. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the number of Covid-related cases among children is still high. More than 750,000 cases have been added in the last four weeks.

According to the academy, children made up 24.8% for weekly Covid cases during the week that ended on Oct. 7. According to the academy, children’s illnesses account for 16.3% all Covid cases ever since the start of the pandemic.

Pfizer asked the Food and Drug Administration last Thursday to authorize its Covid vaccine with BioNTech for kids ages 5 to 11.

This company sent data that showed a two-dose regimen of 10 micrograms — a third of the dosage used for adults and kids 12 and up – is safe and generates a strong immune response in a clinical trial of young children. According to the study, shots are well tolerated. They produce an immune response that is comparable to those observed in studies of individuals aged 16-25.

The U.S. could start vaccinations of young children in November, subject to approval by regulatory agencies. Tuesday’s statement was made by Dr. Vivek Murthy, Surgeon General.

On Oct. 26, a key FDA advisory committee will meet to review Pfizer and BioNTech’s data regarding vaccines for children. The meeting will be followed by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel meeting on Nov. 2. He told reporters that if all goes according to plan, the doses may be distributed in the next few days after the November meeting.
