REUTERS/Kacper PempelWARSAW (Reuters), – Poland is offering consumers an additional 1.5 billion zlotys ($380 M) in subsidy as rising energy prices cause for concern, Poland’s climate minister stated on Friday.
As tight supplies have collided in Europe with high demand from economies recovering after the COVID-19 pandemic and causing a rise in wholesale electricity prices, benchmark European gas prices have soared.
“This matter is of paramount importance to me. The solutions we have proposed are estimated at 1.5 billion Polish zlotys. According to Michal Kurtyka (Climate Minister), we will reach 2.6 million households.”
Kurtyka stated that the goal is to help Poland’s most vulnerable households. It could be 700 Zlotys per year for a family of four.
