ORANGE (Calif.) – Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, was still in a California hospital Friday as he recovered from a noncoronavirus-related infection.

Angel Urena said that the 75-year-old Clinton entered University of California Irvine Medical Center Tuesday evening to treat the infection. He left office in 2001. Urena stated that Clinton was “on the mend”.

Urena said that “He is up and about, joking with the hospital staff” on Thursday.

Clinton was admitted to hospital due to fatigue. His doctors gave him both fluids and IV antibiotics.

His past heart experiences include a quadruple bypass procedure in 2004 as well as a procedure to unblock an artery.

Between 1993 and 2001, he served two terms as a Democrat in the White House. His strong economic growth was accompanied by bruising political fights with his Republican opponents.

The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives impeached him in 1998 over his sexual relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, but Clinton was acquitted by the Senate. He was not the first U.S. President to be impeached. Donald Trump would become the third, when he was impeached twice in his term.

He was an ex-Governor of Arkansas, and was well known for his extraordinary talent as a politician. His combination of a charming personality with deep policy knowledge made him a popular choice. Bush defeated George H.W., the Republican president. Bush in 1992, and then defeated longtime Republican senator Bob Dole 1996.

Clinton became a cheerleader after he left office and for Hillary Clinton who was elected as the U.S. Senate candidate from New York in 2000.

She failed to seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. In 2008 she was unsuccessful and won the nod of the party in 2016. Trump lost her election, but she still received the national popular vote.
