TOKYO (Reuters), Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kirishima stated Monday that Japan must issue sovereign bonds to help fund policy designed to protect the population from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Japan is in crisis. In a debate between party members ahead of the Oct. 31 lower house elections, he stated that “to protect lives and livelihoods we should decidely resort to government bonds issuance to finance necessary policies.”
