(Reuters) – A lawyer representing protesters claimed that they were attacked by Trump’s security guards in 2015. The former President Donald Trump gave evidence under oath Monday.
Trump took a deposition at Trump Tower, midtown Manhattan on Monday morning, according to Benjamin Dictor. Dictor was a lawyer seeking Trump’s testimony during the ongoing dispute.
New York Supreme Court Justice Doris Gonzalez ruled last week that Trump must sit down for the recorded deposition.
In 2015, a group of protesters filed the suit against Trump. They claimed that Trump’s security officers attacked them as they demonstrated outside Trump Tower on September 2015. The attack was in response to Trump’s remarks that Mexican immigrants are criminals and rapists.
“They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” he said during the June 16 speech announcing his candidacy.
Taylor Budowich, Trump’s spokesperson, did not respond immediately to our request for comment.
