LONDON — The British government is set to announce that it has secured £9.7 billion ($13.4 billion) of new foreign investment, as Prime Minister Boris Johnson looks to reverse the post-Brexit freefall in financing.

To convince world’s most important international investors to send money to the U.K., Tuesday will be the first ever Global Investment Summit hosted by the government

Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will try to increase support for the government’s “Global Britain” agenda. Foreign direct investment has plummeted since 2016 when the UK voted to exit the EU.

This summit is coming at an awkward time for the U.K., which is currently facing several economic crises including shortages of labor and record-high natural gases prices.

The U.S. is home to a large portion of the guest list for the event, which includes Bill Gates Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, JPMorgan boss Jamie DimonAnd Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman.

Downing Street claims that the 18 agreements already made will result in the creation of at least 30,000 new jobs, and funding for critical sectors like hydrogen energy and sustainable housing, as well as carbon capture and storage.

This is only the beginning. As we look forward, we will witness new partnerships for green development formed at the Global Investment Summit today. COP26Johnson stated that Johnson was going above and beyond in a statement.

International investors can also use the new platform created by U.K. Department for International Trade to find opportunities in England and Scotland.

The “Investment Atlas”, which will include 53 opportunities for strategic investments, includes offshore wind substructures from Scotland and ports of manufacturing in the northeastern part of England.
