(Reuters) FS Investments is an alternative asset manager investing approximately $25 billion. It has appointed Troy Gayeski as chief market strategist. He was previously co-chief investment officer for Anthony Scaramucci’s SkyBridge Capital.

Gayeski has joined FS Investments. Low interest rates have forced investors to seek new ways of making money in fixed income portfolios. It has prompted moves to private credit or real estate investments.

Gayeski, chief investment officer at FS Investments will be working with Robert Hoffman (head of research) and Lara Rhame (chief U.S. economist). This is his first position.

Michael Forman, chief executive officer of FS Investments, stated that he looked forward to “enjoying (Gayeski’s) expertise and insight as we grow our business” and would like to help clients and investors with innovative solutions.

Franklin Square Capital Partners, which was established in 2007, focuses on providing access for retail investors to other options such as business development companies (BDCs), that can loan money to smaller businesses at times when traditional lenders are reluctant to make these kinds of loans.

BDCs are similar to Real Estate Investment Trusts and have become highly popular among investors due to their ability generate an income stream. FS Investments partnered with venture firm KKR and formed FS KKR Capital Corp.

Gayeski resigned from Scaramucci’s SkyBridge worth $6.5 billion, where he worked over a decade. Gayeski, who hosted the first panel at Scaramucci’s Wall Street conference in New York last month, played a crucial role.
