WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Under pressure from the United States to share its supply of coronavirus vaccination with the rest the world, the White House has announced that 200 million vaccines have been donated to over 100 countries.

Other world leaders have criticised President Joe Biden for providing vaccine booster shots to the United States when so many others around the globe are still waiting.

The United States has increased its donation in recent weeks. Biden told Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta last week https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/us-donates-17-million-jj-doses-african-union-2021-10-14 that the United States will make a one-time donation of the Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) vaccine to the African Union.

In a statement, the White House stated that the United States had delivered more than 200 million COVID-19 vaccinations in the past year.

In the statement it was stated that the United States would support the COVAX international vaccine-sharing programme over the following year with commitments of more than 1,000,000 doses of vaccine to be donated to countries in need.

According to the White House, vaccines can save lives, preserve livelihoods and help heal countries currently affected by this pandemic.
