Biden town hall will address voters on infrastructure next week -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Wednesday, President Joe Biden will hold a CNN event in Baltimore to promote his economic plan. Democrats struggle to secure legislation at the core of their domestic agenda as well as agree on how to fund it.

At 8 PM EDT (0000 GMT), the town hall will be held at Baltimore Center Stage Pearlstone Theater. Biden was asked by the White House to answer questions regarding his $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Deal and on a separate social spending plan estimated at less than $2 trillion.

Social spending plans remain a topic of heated debate at Capitol Hill and the White House. Negotiators are trying to find the right balance between moderates concerned about cost and progressives who want a variety of programs.

Biden will seek a final agreement as he pursues his goals. Questions have emerged that Biden’s most frequently cited promises (like raising taxes on corporations or high-earners) might need to change to get majority support.

Karine Jean Pierre, White House spokesperson, said that Biden will insist on the bill being paid for. This is impossible without the tax increases that he advocated as part of last year’s presidential campaign.

Biden seems to be a fan of the town hall format. Biden has only had brief meetings with reporters and is open to answering questions, but has held very few press conferences since January.
