Asian Stocks Down, China Evergrande Preps Funds Ahead of Payment Deadline -Breaking

Investing.com – Asia Pacific stocks were mostly up on Friday morning, with China Evergrande Group (HK:), reportedly in advance of the looming deadline for payment
Japan’s was up 0.70% by 9:59 PM ET (1:59 AM GMT). According to earlier data, the CPI rose 0.1% annually in September according to the latest release. In September, the national CPI rose 0.4% to 0.2%.
Also, the data showed that there were 53 people in October.
South Korea’s inched up 0.05% while in Australia, the edged down 0.14%.
Hong Kong’s was up 0.21%.
China’s inched up 0.03% while the was up 0.24%, with the deadline for China Evergrande to pay an $83.5 million bond coupon coming up this weekend. According to Reuters, the developer provided funds for a bond coupon due Sept. 23 to a trustee bank account. This was before the 30-day grace period expires for the payment.
The U.S. Federal Reserve has begun asset tapering and bets are increasing on the possibility of interest rate rises following. The Reserve Bank of Australia purchased bonds in Asia Pacific to protect its yield target.
Jerome Powell, Fed Chairman will participate in a panel discussion on policy later today. Investors will pay close attention to his remarks.
With the continued economic recovery of COVID-19, global shares will see a third week-long advance. The rally could be slowed by a potentially faster-than-expected asset taping to reduce inflationary pressures due to a global energy crisis and supply chain disruptions.
“The U.S. economy is still on solid footing, but now inflation remains the biggest threat,” Oanda Corp. senior market analyst Edward Moya said in a note, which added that investors are waiting for more earnings reports as well as the final shape of U.S. President Joe Biden’s economic agenda.
Congressional Democrats have failed to reach consensus over both the tax and spending sides of a bill to enact the majority of Biden’s agenda. Biden said that Congress is unlikely to approve a corporate tax rate increase as it closes, and that this puts the possibility of striking a deal at week’s end in doubt.
