GM more than halfway through shipping pickup trucks parked due to lack of chips-exec -Breaking

DETROIT, (Reuters) – General Motors Co. (NYSE:) has shipped more than half of its newly assembled pickups. It had previously parked them due to a lack of semiconductor chips. A top American executive stated Friday that the No. 1 automaker could not ship the trucks.

Steve Cralisle was GM’s North American chief executives, and he said that “we’ve made great strides,” at the Reuters Events Automotive Summit. We’re about halfway there at the moment, and we aim to finish our 21 model year by the end. The new year will bring us a little bit more ’22 model-years, but it won’t last too long.”

GM and other automakers have had to stop producing chips or, in certain cases, to build more vehicles before the required chips are installed.
