Epic and Steam: What’s the difference in gaming?
Last week’s biggest crypto news came from beyond the crypto community. Steam, one the largest online game distributors, stunned the industry by announcing that they will not allow gaming projects featuring blockchain, NFTs or crypto within their virtual store. The company updated its policies and added: “Applications built on blockchain technology that issue or allow exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTs,” to the list of what may not be published on the platform.
Epic Games Store was open to all of the Valve’s abandoned players. However, they warned projects to be fully compliant with financial laws, have a clear blockchain usage policy, be 18+, and to use their own payment systems instead of Epic’s.
Epic Games Store is open to games that use blockchain tech, provided they adhere to the applicable laws and terms. Although Epic does not use crypto, it welcomes innovation in finance and technology. https://t.co/6W7hb8zJBw
