Amazon says it’s prepared for supply chain snarls as holidays loom

AmazonOn Monday, the company assured shoppers and industry observers that it is well-prepared for supply chain problems during holiday season.

In a blog postAmazon claimed that it uses a mixture of ships, aircraft, trucks and shipping vans in order to deliver what it wants, no matter where they may be.

Because of existing supply chain issues, inflationary pressures as well as labor shortages, retail is entering a challenging period for holiday shopping. The problem is caused by a number of factors, including rising shipping container prices and shortages, Covid-19 infections at shipping ports and a dearth of warehouse workers to handle and unload goods.

Experts have warnedAs a result, consumers may see longer delivery times, more out-of stock notices and less deals.

Amazon claimed it had increased its investments in inventory planning and relationships with suppliers. This allows it to ensure it has sufficient goods, as well as ensuring it can dispatch items where it’s most needed.

Additionally, it has doubled its container processing capabilities by expanding ports of entry. It also partnered with additional ocean freight carriers to provide space in “critical port” areas.

John Felton was Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Global Delivery Services. He wrote, “Our teams worked hard over months, focusing primarily on capacity and customer demand planning to balance customers’ needs against any transportation or supply chain challenges that might occur.” We have made even greater efforts this year to make sure that recent supply-chain challenges don’t impact our customer experience.
