OTTAWA (Reuters), – A salvage team was unable to board a cargo vessel Monday due to bad weather. The ship had several chemical containers that were damaged over the weekend.

On Saturday, sixteenteen crew members had to be evacuated from the vessel Zim Kingston. Five crew members remained aboard to help fight the flames, which had largely subsided by Sunday evening.

A salvage crew has been appointed by the company, but due to weather issues (they) are unable board container ships,” the coast guard stated on Twitter (NYSE:).

“The containers continue to smolder and boundary cooling – spraying water on the hull and on containers near the fire – continues,” it added.

The ship anchors several kilometers off Vancouver Island’s southern coast, British Columbia. According to the coast guard, there are no health risks.

Danaos Shipping Co (NYSE:) stated that there have been no reports of injuries aboard the vessel.
