BOISE (Reuters) – Two people died and four other were hurt in a shooting incident at a Boise shopping mall on Monday. The only suspect was taken into police custody.
Although the details were unclear, Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee said that police responded shortly before 2 pm local to reports about a shooting at Boise Towne Square mall.
A group of officers responded to the call and found a person matching the description. The officer was taken into custody.
Lee explained that Lee believed there was only one suspect and the threat is not ongoing to the whole community.
The suspect and victims were not identified, so no information was provided. He also said nothing about the motives behind the shooting.
Joey Bernal, a shopper at the Idaho Statesman, said that he was shopping in the food court of the mall when he heard the shots. Security personnel then ushered him out the entrance, before the police arrived.
Boise Towne Square can be found at the west end of Idaho’s capital. This is also its most populous metro area. There are approximately 250,000 people living there.
