(Reuters) – Alphabet, Google’s parent company (NASDAQ:) Inc beat its expectations Tuesday for its third quarter revenue. This is a good sign that the advertising business of Google has overcome new limitations in tracking mobile users. It is sending its shares slightly up.

Google has the highest number of internet advertising sales than any company thanks to its search engine, YouTube and other partnerships. As the pandemic caused people to spend more online in recent years, demand for their services has risen.

Google Advertising Revenue grew to $53.1 Billion during the third quarter. Alphabet’s total sales rose to $65.1billion, exceeding the $63.336 billion average estimate among Refinitiv analysts.

The quarterly profit beat expectations by $24.08 per share and was $27.99 higher than expected. Alphabet profits can fluctuate widely because of accounting rules which require that the company measures unrealized gains it made from investments in startup companies as income.

The widespread concern about the way Google and other companies profile users and select which ads to display has led to increased consumer anxiety. Apple Inc (NASDAQ):, whose iPhones make up half the smartphone market in America, has given its customers more control over their tracking and allowed them to opt out of it for the last few months. Google’s competitors were able to make this change and advertisers have been able to adjust their spending. Snap Inc (NYSE: Facebook Inc (NASDAQ) stated that their third quarter sales suffered.

Google might have suffered less because it collects user interest data that advertisers can use.
