German auto makers can’t build hundreds of thousands of cars due to chip shortages

BERLIN (Reuters), – German car manufacturers cannot currently build hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to a shortage of electronic components. Economy Minister Peter Altmaier stated Wednesday.

Altmaier presented the revised growth outlook of the government and said that the government would support local chip factories worth several billions euros. He also stated that he believed that state subsidies could mobilize more investment by businesses.
