U.S. FDA expected to authorize first COVID-19 vaccine for young children on Friday

(Reuters) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration will likely approve the authorization. Pfizer Inc (NYSE.) and BioNTech Se (NASDAQ.) announced Friday that they will be offering coronavirus vaccines for children between 5-11 years old. The New York Times reported this information, using people who are familiar with agency planning.

It will become the first COVID-19 shot in America for small children.

It is anticipated that the vaccine will be made available to more than 28 million children, many of which are already back at school to continue their in-person learning. This decision comes following Tuesday’s unanimous recommendation by a panel made up of FDA advisers.
