U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.25% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The NYSE index closed at 0.33%. It increased 0.25% and the index gained 0.19% to make it a new all-time high.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ]) was the best performer of the session, rising 2.24% (7.27 points) to close at 331.62. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 1.91% or 0.92 points to end at 49.00 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was up 1.73% or 1.50 points to 88.05 in late trade.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ) was the worst performer of the session, falling 1.81% or 2.76 point to close at 149.81. Dow Inc (NYSE) lost 1.06% (or 0.60) to finish at 55.97. 3M Company (NYSE) dropped 0.66% (or 1.19) to 178.68.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were WW Grainger Inc (NYSE:) which rose 7.51% to 463.11, eBay Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.95% to settle at 76.72 and VeriSign Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 5.68% to close at 222.67.

These were the worst performers Mohawk Industries Inc (NYSE.) was 10.98% lower at 177.21, late trade. DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc(NYSE.) lost 9.5% and settled at 103.20. Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ 🙂 was at its lowest point of 8.71%, or 52.29 at closing.

Diginex Ltd (NASDAQ) rose 47.31%, to 6.850. Bit Digital Inc was up 41.79%, to settle at 14.250. Greenidge Generation Holdings Inc was up 33.81% and closed at 27.190.

These were the worst performers Huadi International Group Co Ltd (NASDAQ) was trading at 39.47%, or 17.130 as of late trade. Caredx Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 27.50% to settle at 51.00 and 4D Molecular Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 22.17% to 24.01 at the close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered advanced ones by 1776-1446, and 131 ended unchanged.

Microsoft Corporation shares rose to new highs (NASDAQ:), up 2.24%, or 7.27 to 331.62. Shares in Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.73% or 1.50 to 88.05.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.63% to 16.26.

Dec delivery gold futures fell 1.03% to $1784.05 per troy-ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 0.55 or 0.66% to reach $83.36/barrel, and January Brent oil, which rose 0.14 or 0.17% to trade at $83.80/barrel.

EUR/USD declined 1.01% to 1.1561, but USD/JPY gained 0.38%, to 114.00.

At 94.108, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.84%.
