Top GameStop executive steps down after less than a year on the job

One of the GameStopAs the retailer’s digital transformation continues, its newly appointed top executives have resigned.

GameStop has announced that Jenna Owens, its chief operating officer, is leaving her position. The announcement was made in regulatory filings on Friday. Owens is a former executive at Amazon and Google. was named to the role in March

GameStop went through a number of changes in management when Ryan Cohen (Chewy cofounder) was appointed to lead the company. Stock prices soared and GameStop stock gained new life. rippling through Wall Street.Cohen is now the chairman of the company. However, few details have been released about this plan to transform GameStop into an e-commerce and digital company.

In a filing, the company stated that Owens will have her duties taken over by other members on the management team. The filing stated that Owens would receive six months of Owens’ base salary as well as the remainder of her signing bonus.

GameStop’s shares ended Friday closing at $183.51 a share. After falling below $18 in January, the stock traded up to $483 per share.

GameStop saga prompted Congressional hearings and an investigation from the Securities and Exchange Commission. SEC said in a report earlier this monthAlthough retail investors were likely encouraged to gamify trades by using their methods, they did not blame individual companies or policies.
