Shanghai Disneyland suspends entry on Halloween as China fights Covid

BEIJING — Shanghai DisneyThe resort closed its doors late Sunday night and requested that visitors get coronavirus testing, hours before Halloween.
In its temporary suspension of entry to certain attractions and the subsequent cessation of operations, the resort operator mentioned cooperation with “pandemic investigations in other provinces or cities”. “Outdoor entertainment will go on as planned.” the company said in a statement timestamped 6:05 p.m. SundayWeibo is a Chinese social media platform.
In China, new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the recent weeks. They are mostly found in Inner Mongolia, and others in the north.
A few cases of domestically transmitted coronavirus were reported in other regions over the weekend. One new case was reported by Hangzhou from a Shanghai-bound traveler. This case could not be directly linked to Disneyland.
Shanghai Disney Resort customers must undergo a coronavirus test upon leaving, along with another one after 24 hours.
Shanghai’s city officials stated that all people who have visited Disney sites since Saturday must also be tested. The municipal government reported that 33,863 individuals had been tested negative as of Monday at 8 AM. No new cases were recorded for Sunday.
Disney holds 43% of Shanghai Disney Resort. They offer refunds and exchanges on tickets purchased Oct. 31, Nov. 1, or Nov. 2.

China has a strict policy of “zero tolerance” to stop the spread and control the coronavirus. This means that any venue, from apartments to theme parks, can be closed down in a flash.
Universal Beijing Resort announced Saturday that disease control officials had notified the resort of close contact with a coronavirus patient who visited the park on Wednesday Oct. 24, 2010. It is called The resort saidAll staff were tested and all close contacts tested positive for the coronavirus.
