BERLIN (Reuters), – Johannes Boie has been appointed editor-in chief of Germany’s Bild newspaper. His predecessor was fired for his relationship with women staff. Publisher Axel Springer announced Monday that two female editors have been hired to join the extended editorial board.

Boie has made the first personnel hire since Julian Reichelt was fired two weeks earlier. This decision came after an article in The New York Times.

Axel Springer purchased Politico in August. It said Reichelt had been fired after it gained new insights about his behaviour.

Since his dismissal, Reichelt had not made any comments on the report nor spoken out publicly about it. Reichelt did not reply to our request for comment.

Boie promises to build a culture for respect at Bild

He stated that “we will not tolerate one millimeter of abuse of power, harassment, intimidation, or worse” to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
