REUTERS/Lucy Nicholson/File PhotographWASHINGTON (Reuters] – The U.S. House Democrats published a revised bill Wednesday. This increases the proposed tax credit for electric cars up to $12,500, and reduces income limit for qualified buyers.
This bill changes the pricing of vehicles that are eligible for credit. Vans, trucks, and sport utility vehicles up to $80,000 are all eligible. Sedans will remain the same price as before, at $55,000.
Credits were limited to $64,000 for vans, $69,000 in SUVs, and $74,000 per pickup truck under the earlier version.
A new proposal restricts the EV tax credit for individuals who have adjusted gross incomes less than $250,000. Joint filers can claim $500,000, but only $400,000, and joint filers $800,000.
