U.S. Senate confirms banker Thomas Nides as ambassador to Israel -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate confirmed Wednesday President Joe Biden’s nomination for Ambassador to Israel. This makes Thomas Nides, a banking executive, the top envoy of the United States to its nearest ally in Middle East.

Nides is Vice Chairman and the managing director. Morgan Stanley (NYSE:) He was confirmed through a voice vote at the Senate. This is evenly divided between Democrats, Republicans and Republicans.

Nides also served in senior roles at major banks, and was deputy secretary-of-state for management and human resources between 2010 and 2013.

Biden only selected a small number of ambassadorial picks. Republicans in the highly divided U.S. Senate have prevented many of his nominees from being confirmed.
