Pinterest forecasts strong sales as ad spending booms -Breaking

(Reuters] -Pinterest Inc has forecast fourth-quarter revenue growth at the high teens percent range. This is after image-sharing website Pinterest Inc beat its quarterly estimates by spending on ads in advance of the holiday season.

After the Thursday bell, shares of the company rose 1.4% as the company saw an increase in demand from large retailers and increased growth during its quarter.

The total revenue increased 43% to $633million. This is higher than analysts’ average estimate at $630.9 million according to IBES data by Refinitiv.

But, the monthly active user (MAU), grew just 1 percent to 444 million. This is far below Factset’s estimate of 460 millions. The company saw a 37% increase in users last year as people who remained at home used social media to entertain themselves.

In an interview, Chief Financial Officer Todd Morgenfeld stated that the slowdown in activity was caused by the pandemic unravel. GenZ users are going back to school while GenZ users who were using the app during lockdowns to discover cooking and other home decorating ideas are exploring more.

Although the proliferation of online shopping has been accelerating, Pinterest users (NYSE:) have seen a 60% increase in the number of people using its shopping tools compared to a year earlier.

In the September 30, quarter, net income was $94,000,000, or 14c per share. This compares to a loss last year of $94.2million or 16c per share.

The company gained 28 cents per sen, excluding items. This is more than 23 cents an sen.
