FRANKFURT – Volkswagen (DE :)’s four-member mediation panel is set to meet soon to talk about Herbert Diess, the CEO of the company, according to people who were familiar last week. Diess was once again at odds with prominent labour leaders.

On Monday, Jefferies analysts (NYSE:) called Diess the “most forward-looking CEO” since Ferdinand Piech who was Volkswagen’s former chief executive and chairman.

Even though it is not clear what the final outcome will be, Diess’s strained relationship with German unions has created uncertainty about the future of the automaker’s leadership.
