Investing.com — French company produces vaccines Valneva SE ADR (NASDAQ:) jumped 24% Wednesday after the European Commission approved an agreement which will allow the company to supply 60 million doses over the next two years.
The agreement includes roughly 27 million doses of the drug in 2022. However, the EC can increase the initial purchase amount to 60 millions doses at the end 2023.
Following the announcement, Valneva’s shares on Nasdaq were traded at $50.33.
A Dr. Amir Khan article at Al Jazeera explains that Valneva’s vaccine differs from the other Covid-19 vaccines because it stimulates an immune reaction to the whole virus rather than the spike protein.
Valneva CEO Thomas Lingelbach said that “we are committed to bringing an alternate vaccine solution to market as soon and as efficiently as possible.”
““Our Phase 3 results have confirmed many of the benefits associated with inactivated vaccinations, and we believe that our vaccine candidate can make a significant contribution to global efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” said he.
