FRANKFURT (Reuters). RWE, Germany’s largest power producer posted a 6% growth in its nine-month core profit. This was due to weaker earnings at the company’s solar- and wind unit. However, RWE’s energy trading and nuclear- and coal divisions offset these lower earnings.

Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, depreciation, amortization, and amortization reached 2.4 Billion Euros ($2.78 Billion) during the first nine month of this year. This is an increase from the 2.3Billion in the same period last fiscal year.

This group is one of Europe’s most important renewables players. It stated that it was on track for exceeding its target of increasing green energy production to over 13 gigawatts (GW) by 2022. Currently, 3.8GW are under construction.

RWE’s solar and wind businesses suffered lower average winds volumes as well as the effects of an earlier Texas winter that impacted profits. The nine-month adjusted EBITDA for the solar and wind operation of RWE was 38% lower.

RWE will hold a capital market day Nov. 15 and confirmed its outlook. It said it expects an adjusted EBITDA range of 3.0 billion to 33.4 billion euro, as well as a dividend at 0.90 euros per share.
