Pfizer offers special, color-coded vials to help younger children get the correct dosage. However, the employees of a pharmacy located in Aldie, Va., about 36 miles from Washington, D.C., took the doses out of the vials meant for adults 12 years and over.

The department stated that VDH was also in contact with parents to provide guidance and information on the next steps. VDH hasn’t received reports from pharmacies and providers about COVID-19 vaccines that are formulated for children aged 12 or older than 5-11 year olds.
